Proposal for the Construction of a Private Hangar at the Hopetoun Aerodrome

Yarriambiack Shire Council has received a proposal from Mr Grant Wilson, a resident of the Shire, seeking to build a hangar at the Hopetoun Aerodrome, located at 78 Hopetoun Aerodrome Road, Hopetoun VIC 3396 to house his aircraft.

Mr Wilson is set to own the proposed hangar, while the Council will enter into a long-term ground lease at market value. Importantly, this agreement ensures that there will be no financial burden on the Council.

Pending the outcome of a community consultation process, conducted pursuant to Council’s Community Engagement Policy and Procedure, the Chief Executive Officer recommends entering into this agreement with Mr Wilson to facilitate greater utilisation of the aerodrome.

Community Feedback: How to Have Your Say

The Council is seeking public input on its proposal to permit the construction of a private hangar on Council property and to arrange a ground lease with Mr Wilson at market rates.
