Have Your Say – Deed of Variation – Lease - NBN Co Limited – NBN Tower, Rupanyup

Yarriambiack Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposed Deed of Variation to its lease with NBN Co Limited for a small parcel of land located at the corner of the Rupanyup Recreation Reserve on Gibson Street, Rupanyup.

NBN Co Limited entered into a 20-year lease with Council in 2013 and subsequently installed the monopole tower, which has been essential in providing fixed wireless coverage to Rupanyup and the broader surrounding community as part of the National Broadband Network.

NBN Co Limited has identified the site as suitable for long-term renewal due to the significant increase in demand for broadband services. The proposed variation would extend the lease by a further 33 years, to expire in 2066, increase the annual base rent and annual rental escalation payable to Council, and include several minor administrative amendments.

In accordance with section 115 of the Local Government Act 2020, any lease of 10 years or more requires Council to undertake a community engagement process in line with its Community Engagement Policy.

Council supports the proposed variation, recognising the importance of the NBN tower and the services it provides to the community. Community members are invited to provide feedback on if they support or do not support the proposal by 5.00 pm on Friday, 12 June 2026

Have Your Say - Public Notice - Structure Plans – Warracknabeal, Murtoa and Hopetoun

The structure plans are intended to provide a coordinated framework for land use and development across Warracknabeal, Murtoa and Hopetoun. Their key objectives are to:

  • Provide a strategic basis for guiding future land use and development
  • Identify preferred directions for future growth
  • Assess land supply, infrastructure capacity and development constraints
  • Provide planning justification for current and future rezoning proposals and amendments to the Yarriambiack Planning Scheme
  • Support coordinated decision-making by aligning with local and state planning policy

Together, these three structure plans are intended to be the first step toward future structure planning and rezoning across the municipality.

Each town has distinct opportunities that reflect its individual character and strengths. Building on these opportunities will help support future activation, including the ongoing provision of services across the towns.

We invite your feedback on the future directions for Warracknabeal, Murtoa and Hopetoun.

Submissions will be accepted until 5 pm on Friday 12 June 2026.
