Roads and Infrastructure

The Management Plan is developed in accordance with the Road Management Act 2004 and the Code of Practice for Road Management Plans.

The purpose of the Plan is to:

• Establish a management system for the Council’s road management functions, based on defined policies, operational objectives, and available resources.
• Set relevant standards for fulfilling Council’s road management responsibilities.

The Asset Management Plan is a key element of Council’s broader strategic planning framework. It has been developed to support Yarriambiack Shire Council in enhancing the delivery of services related to infrastructure assets, including roads, buildings, open spaces, and stormwater systems.

The purpose of the Roadside Management Strategy is to maintain the functional integrity of the road while protecting and enhancing the environmental, cultural, and amenity values of the road reserve.

The Council Road Hierarchy is a key tool for managing local roads under Council’s responsibility.

It provides guidance on:

• Target specifications for the physical characteristics of each road category; and
• The frequency of routine maintenance inspections conducted by Council staff.

The Footpath Hierarchy serves as a guiding tool for the management of all footpaths within Yarriambiack Shire under Council's responsibility.

• It will establish baseline standards for footpaths and support Council and its officers in planning maintenance and reconstruction works.
• The aim is to ensure these works are delivered cost-effectively and provide the best value for the community.

Yarriambiack Shire Council utelise the Infrastructure Design Manual (IDM) for all design, construction and development processes.
