Youth Engagement

Yarriambiack Youth Services have been in existence in one form or another since it was established in 1994, providing young people aged 10 to 25 years with access to up to date information and relevant services.

Youth Engagement Commitment Statement

The Commitment Statement and Action Plan establishes a clear focus for the Council and identifies where our role can create the most positive, social and collective impact through direct engagement with our young people. This document outlines the key priorities we will focus on in the coming years to effectively engage with our young people.

Youth Engagement Priorities and Actions

We are committed to listening to our young people.
We will do this by:

  • Meeting regularly with secondary colleges across our shire and engaging with School Representative Councils.
  • Inviting feedback from you people across our Shire on services, infrastructure and projects.

We are committed to engaging with our young people.
We will do this by:

  • Offering programs within our Community Libraries that meet a diverse range of ages and needs.
  • Seeking expressions of interest from organisations to facilitate programs across the Shire during the school holidays.
  • Applying for future funding opportunities to facilitate the employment of a Youth Engagement Officer.

We are committed to developing and supporting our young people.
We will do this by:

  • Exploring leadership programs and funding opportunities for our youth to participate in across the Shire.
  • Encouraging, welcoming and supporting feedback from our youth, with an aim of celebrating their advocacy and vision.
