Victorian Transmission

VicGrid is a division within the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) which coordinates the overarching planning and development of Victoria’s Renewable Energy Zones (REZs).

VicGrid is currently developing a long-term plan – the Victorian Transmission Plan - regarding the proposed development of transmission infrastructure projects and renewable energy zones.

Draft Victorian Transmission Plan

VicGrid has released the draft Victorian Transmission Plan which identifies the areas they believe that are the most suitable locations for new proposed renewable energy zones and the transmission projects needed as our state’s ageing coal-fired power stations close down.

VicGrid has opened community hubs in proposed renewable energy zone locations across Victoria including Stawell and Horsham.

The draft Victorian Transmission Plan is currently on public exhibition until 24 June 2025. More information can be found on the Engage Victoria website via the link below.
