Gifting of Land at 34 Henty Highway, Warracknabeal
On 29 October 2025, Yarriambiack Shire Council endorsed in principle to support gifting the land at 34 Henty Highway, Warracknabeal (known as the Wheatlands Agricultural Machinery Museum), to the Warracknabeal and District Historical Society Incorporated (the Historical Society).
Over several years, Council has held extensive consultations with the Historical Society and its sub-committee, which manages the Wheatlands Agricultural Machinery Museum. Discussions have focused on matters relating to land ownership and the development of the museum site.
The Historical Society has managed and operated the museum for more than 50 years. During this time, they have made significant investments to redevelop and improve the museum and have plans for further enhancements.
The Wheatlands Agricultural Machinery Museum is an important tourism and historical site for the local community and visitors alike.
This action is contingent upon execution of a Section 173 Agreement, which will contain obligations including:
a) not using the land for purposes other than those approved by Council; and
b) returning the land to Council for nominal consideration if it is not developed and used for its intended purpose.
