Statutory Meeting – Mayor and Deputy Mayor Yarriambiack Shire Council

At the Statutory Meeting of Council held on 12 November 2025, Councillor Andrew McLean (Hopetoun Ward) was elected Mayor for a one-year term, while Councillor Corinne Heintze (Dunmunkle Ward) was appointed Deputy Mayor for the same duration.

“On behalf of the Yarriambiack Shire Council team l wish to congratulate Mayor Andrew McLean and Deputy Mayor Corinne Heintze for being duly elected”, stated Chief Executive Officer Tammy Smith.

“I also wish to acknowledge the work of outgoing Mayor Councillor Kylie Zanker”, stated Ms Smith.

“During her four-year tenure as Mayor, Cr Zanker played a key role in advocacy efforts, including securing the Murtoa Early Years precinct and advancing commitments for Rabl Park, ANZAC Park, and the Beulah Supermarket. While some promises made by the opposition were not realised, these outcomes reflect the Mayor's dedicated service”.

During Councillor Zanker's time as Mayor, many projects have been completed. Some examples include the affordable housing initiative, upgrades to netball and tennis courts in Brim and Rupanyup, new changerooms at Rupanyup and Beulah, and funding for improvements to the Sea-Lake Lascelles, Banyena-Pimpinio, and Hopetoun-Yaapeet roads. New cabins were installed at both Hopetoun and Warracknabeal caravan parks, and a new building with landscaping was constructed at Warracknabeal Kindergarten, along with landscaping at kindergartens in Rupanyup and Hopetoun. The former Dunmunkle Shire Office was also renovated to create the Dunmunkle Community Library precinct. Ms Smith noted that these are just some of the highlights achieved during Mayor Zanker's leadership.

Ms Smith concluded, "The team at Yarriambiack is committed to achieving the Council Plan objectives under the leadership of Mayor Andrew McLean and continuing to build upon the Councillors' collective efforts, advocacy, and service to their Shire."
