Notice is hereby given that Yarriambiack Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to improve road and pedestrian safety within the Warracknabeal education precinct by introducing a one-way traffic arrangement on Campbell Street between King Street and Lyle Street Warracknabeal.
This proposal forms part of Council's broader commitment to improving safety around the Warracknabeal Education Precinct, including Warracknabeal Primary School, Warracknabeal Secondary College, Warracknabeal Special Developmental School, Warracknabeal Early Years Centre and St Mary's Primary School. Concerns have been raised regarding traffic congestion, pedestrian safety, vehicle movements and conflicts between buses, cars and pedestrians during peak school periods.
Council has secured funding through Victoria's Safe Local Roads and Streets Program to undertake more than $1 million in road safety improvements, including raised pedestrian crossings, traffic-calming measures, improved street lighting, connecting footpaths and enhanced signage throughout the precinct. Additional improvements along Campbell Street are also being investigated.
