On Wednesday 21 October 2026, Mayor Cr Andrew McLean and CEO Tammy Smith joined Horsham Rural City Council representatives to present at the public hearing in Horsham for the national inquiry into social licence and economic development outcomes for critical minerals projects.
The Mayor and CEO were pleased to present to Committee Chair Meryl Swanson MP, Deputy Chair Jamie Chaffey MP and Committee Member Ashvini Ambihaipahar MP.
For an agricultural region like ours, it is incredibly important that national conversations like these happen in regional communities. It gives our communities the opportunity to share their lived experiences directly with the federal decision-makers considering issues that may affect our region.
