This month we have continued with our Budget, Council Plan and Advocacy Actions roadshow across the Shire. I do thank everyone who has taken the time to attend and engage with us.

We have several key project updates to share with you all.

Hopetoun Swimming Pool Upgrade Project:

The Hopetoun Swimming Pool Upgrade Project has seen great progress, with the changeroom component on track for completion around 30 June 2026.

The Swimming Pool component works have progressed to the next stage, with demolition complete and formwork commencing from 22 June 2026, keeping the project on schedule for the 2026–27 season.

Rabl Park Skatepark Upgrade Project:

The Rabl Park Skatepark Upgrade is nearing completion, with the half-court basketball court and skatepark slab now complete.  Installation of the modular skatepark is expected mid-June, with final concrete footpath works to follow, keeping the project on track for completion around 30 June 2026.

ANZAC Park Netball, Tennis and AFL Infrastructure Planning and Upgrade Project:

Council have submitted its funding application to secure the $250,000 State Budget Allocation and is now awaiting Ministerial approval to enable a funding agreement to be executed.  Concept planning is also underway, with draft designs for new netball, tennis, and swimming pool changerooms to be presented to the Project Working Group in the coming weeks.

Minyip Recreation Reserve Sports Lighting Upgrade Project:

The Minyip Recreation Reserve Sports Lighting Upgrade is progressing, with approvals underway and site works scheduled in late June-early July.  The Lighting poles are expected to arrive in late July, with installation planned in early August to minimise disruption for home games.

Yaapeet Streetscape Works:

The Yaapeet Streetscape Project is well underway. Council secured $50,000 through Round 2 of the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns Fund and also contributed funding to deliver the project. The works will deliver key master plan priorities, including Byrne Street landscaping, drainage infrastructure, town entrance and wayfinding signage, and a new school bus shelter. These upgrades will improve the town’s presentation, safety and accessibility.

We also congratulate the successful recipients of Tiny Towns Round 3 funding. The Lake Lascelles Committee of Management secured funding to expand powered sites at the Lake Lascelles caravan park, while the Warracknabeal Courthouse will expand its on-site accommodation offering.

In Minyip, a new playground will add to the recent upgrades at the Minyip Recreation Reserve.

Patchewollock Recreation Reserve will also receive a new playground shelter.

These are valuable additions for our communities.
