Grain bags and BagMUSTER collection changes

The Yarriambiack Shire will no longer be accepting grain tarps and grain storage bags at our transfer stations for disposal until further notice as we currently do not have a viable disposal option. We will continue to seek options for sustainable disposal.

We are currently looking to join the new BagMUSTER program in the coming months as the program seeks to expand their footprint across western Victoria. Our farmers have embraced the sister program, DrumMUSTER, for many years and we expect this will also be a popular program.

BagMUSTER is a sustainable solution for collecting and recycling agricultural plastic bags, specifically single-use polypropylene (PP) bags used for fertilisers, seeds, grain, stock feed, and pet food. The program is designed to promote responsible waste disposal, reduce on-farm plastic waste, and support product stewardship across the agricultural community.

We will communicate further details on the program once it is ready to go.

Any queries regarding the disposal of agricultural plastics can be directed to La Vergne Lehmann, Waste & Sustainability Coordinator on 0408 121 118.
