Gifting of Land at 2 Wood Street Rupanyup to State Emergency Services

On 10 December 2025, Yarriambiack Shire Council endorsed in principle to support gifting the land at 2 Wood Street Rupanyup (known as the Dunmunkle State Emergency Services (SES) Unit Building), to the State Emergency Services.

Yarriambiack Shire Council is the owner of the property located at 2 Wood Street, Rupanyup, which is known as the Dunmunkle State Emergency Services (SES) Unit Building. For an extended period, SES Victoria has occupied the premises under tenancy arrangements initially with the Country Roads Board, VicRoads, the Shire of Dunmunkle, and, most recently, Yarriambiack Shire Council.

In January 2019, SES Victoria entered into a twenty-year peppercorn lease agreement with Council.

The building has been used primarily for member training, equipment storage, and emergency response operations.

As the premises are surplus to Council requirements, and Council only holds the building and land for the purposes of SES activities, it is proposed that the asset be transferred to the SES to manage and maintain going forward.

Community Feedback: How to Have Your Say

In accordance with Section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020, Council is inviting public feedback on the proposal to gift the land to the SES. Community members may submit feedback in support of or opposition to the proposal.

Feedback can be submitted via the Have Your Say section on our website, or by email or letter addressed to CEO Tammy Smith, Response to Have Your Say, Gifting of Land 2 Wood Street Rupanyup.  Emails should be sent to info@yarriambiack.vic.gov.au or letters posted to PO Box 243 Warracknabeal Vic 3393.

Feedback is to be received by Close of Business, 5pm Friday 16 January 2026.
