Cardboard Charges For Commercial Quantities
Published on 04 July 2025
Yarriambiack Shire transfer stations are designed primarily for residential use, providing local residents with a convenient way to dispose of household waste and recycling. While we do accept some commercial waste, there are strict limits on the volume and type of commercial materials that can be processed at these facilities. Businesses are encouraged to seek alternative disposal options for large-scale or specialised waste to ensure the continued efficiency and sustainability of our transfer stations.
To support the ongoing costs of processing large volumes of recyclable materials, Yarriambiack Shire Council has introduced a fee for commercial quantities of cardboard at our transfer stations. A charge of $60 per cubic metre (based on a 300kg bale) is to apply to businesses or individuals delivering bulk cardboard for recycling from 1 July 2025.
In practical terms it means that a small trailer of stacked cardboard would attract a fee of around $10 and a large trailer would be $20. This measure ensures the sustainability of our recycling services while continuing to prioritise residential access.
Council has cardboard skips at the Warracknabeal, Hopetoun, Murtoa and Rupanyup transfer stations.
