Council Pursues Multiple Grant Opportunities to Enhance Community Infrastructure

Yarriambiack Shire is excited to share its strategic initiative in actively pursuing grant funding opportunities. Our goal is to secure vital support for a range of pivotal community projects, each designed to significantly improve the liveability, social health and wellbeing outcomes for our residents. With a focus on sustainable development and community enrichment, we are committed to transforming these aspirations into tangible enhancements for our township.

In 2023, the Council submitted an application for the Commonwealth Government Regional Precincts and Partnership Program Stream One. This grant is intended for the development and planning of ANZAC Park and the Hopetoun Former School site. While we anticipated the outcome of the funding application to be released in late 2023, we have been informed that it is now expected in the first half of 2024.

Furthermore, the Council has completed the Expression of Interest for the State Government Regional Worker Accommodation Fund. This initiative targeted increasing housing and accommodation options in Murtoa, Hopetoun, and Warracknabeal. Unfortunately, our Murtoa and Hopetoun applications have not been invited to proceed to the next stage.  However, we are delighted to report that we have been invited to apply for funding specifically for the addition of three new cabins at the Warracknabeal Caravan Park.  Whilst we have been invited to apply, it is a competitive process, and we need to be mindful we may not be successful.

In light of the delay in Commonwealth funding announcements, the Council has also applied for the State Government Enabling Tourism Funding. This funding will support the planning and development of the Hopetoun Former School site, ensuring we do not miss out on this critical opportunity for planning and for the project to be shovel ready to attract infrastructure construction investment.

The Council is also awaiting the release of funding guidelines for the Commonwealth Housing Support Program Stage 2, which focuses on infrastructure projects that bolster new housing developments by providing necessary infrastructure and amenities.

Additionally, we have submitted an application for the State Government Living Libraries Funding for Stage 2 of the Dunmunkle Community Library Precinct. This funding will assist to activate the outdoor areas surrounding the library, creating a vibrant community space.

Our commitment to community enhancement continues with the application for the State Government Tiny Towns Funding for the Yaapeet Streetscape Project and the Woomelang Bowling Club and Community Carpark. The Council has also extended support to our communities in their Tiny Towns applications.

The Council recognises its dependence on grant funding to carry out community infrastructure construction, redevelopment, and upgrades. We remain dedicated to pursuing these opportunities vigorously to ensure our community’s continued growth and prosperity.

Our Council is committed to fostering a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive community through strategic development and responsible stewardship of resources.
