AED Registration with Ambulance Victoria.

Yarriambiack Shire Council is campaigning to encourage our community to register their Automated External Defibrillators (AED) with Ambulance Victoria.

Each year, Ambulance Victoria attends thousands of cardiac arrests in the community.

Ambulance Victoria advises, for every minute defibrillation is delayed, the chance of survival for a person in cardiac arrest decreases.  The early use of a defibrillator (AED) by members of the public can significantly increase a person’s chances of survival.

AED registration with Ambulance Victoria will allow critical lifesaving information to be shared with Triple Zero Victoria call takers, who can inform callers during an emergency of the AED availability and location details when it is required, at the registered site.

Even if an AED is not accessible all the time, registration is still important.

If the registered AED is listed as being ‘Publicly Accessible’, the AED availability and location details can be disclosed to emergencies within proximity.  This is important in alerting other emergency response agencies, and trusted responders with the GoodSAM program, who can provide assistance.

Registration with Ambulance Victoria is processed online, via the AED Dashboard, at this web-address: registermyaed.ambulance.vic.gov.au

To register, community members with an AED will need to create an account by providing the following information:

  • Name (Contact person for AED registration).
  • Address (required for postal purposes).
  • Contact Details (email and phone number).

Registration of AED devices within our Shire community will facilitate critical life-saving intervention to the benefit of everyone.
