Have Your Say - Gypsum Truck Route

Council invites feedback from our community on the proposed Gypsum Route within the Shire's boundaries.

This proposal has resulted from no specific travel route for Gypsum transport within the shire and the increased volume of truck movements on council assets, increasing damage on roads that are not specifically designed to take such loads. Gypsum is an essential product used for various purposes in agriculture and other industries, this leads to a designated route becoming essential in the industry’s growth and safety of all travels on roads throughout the shire.

Have Your Say - Master Environment Strategy

The Yarriambiack Shire Council is developing a Master Environment Strategy. Our goal is to set a clear direction that will guide our planning and decision-making to ensure we meet community expectations regarding environmental sustainability in the coming decade.

The strategy will cover three key areas:

  • Waste, recycling and resource recovery
  • Climate action – adaptation, mitigation and renewable energy
  • Environment – water, land and biodiversity

We have prepared a fact sheet on each of those topics, outlining the issues that we need to consider and the potential actions for each topic. Prioritising those actions is a key element in developing the strategy in order to ensure we meet the expectations of the community in our approach to developing this strategy.

We value feedback from the community and have released a detailed survey seeking community input on key items of waste, environment, and climate action. The survey is available in hard copy or online. There will also be a series of face-to-face engagement activities, including the Budget Roadshow, over the next 6 weeks. The dates for these activities will be shared as they occur.

The survey is open for feedback until Friday June 14, 2024.

The survey can be completed either:

Hard copies will be available and can be returned to the council office, libraries and at the Words on Wheels van.
