Speed Limit Review at Rupanyup and Murtoa Towns

Yarriambiack Shire Council would like to identify the level of support from residents and road users of Rupanyup and Murtoa with a proposed speed reduction from 60 km/h to 50 km/h for vehicles passing through the main streets of each town.

Yarriambiack Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Tammy Smith said, “The proposed locations are Marma Street, Murtoa and Cromie Street, Rupanyup. Council has received feedback regarding these two particular streets, and the concerns for pedestrians crossing these busy freight and tourist routes. During our Streetscape community consultation in Rupanyup there was overwhelming feedback regarding the speed down Cromie Street. This is one way that Council can ensure all road users are safe in our towns, whether they are travelling in cars, trucks or on foot”.
