Fire Prevention Property inspections to commence.

Council will commence their annual Fire Hazard Identification Program starting the first week of October 2023. These inspections will seek to identify potential fire hazards on all residential properties located in townships within the Yarriambiack Shire. Inspections will start in the Northern end of the municipality and progress to the South of the shire by the end of October.

All property owners are advised to maintain their properties by slashing dead or long dry grass and removing fuels such as dead branches or piles of cut vegetation. As a property owner, it is your responsibility to reduce the threat a fire poses to your home and your surrounding neighbours.

Failing to Comply with a Fire Prevention Notice (CFA Act 1958) within the specified time, may result in the Property Owner being issued an Infringement Notice for $1923.00 as well as associated costs.

For further information on how to prepare your property, please contact Council’s Fire Prevention Officer, Craig Byron, on 5398 0100 or visit the CFA website at http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/how-to-prepare-your-property/.
